Client Spotlight: Eric Allenbaugh, Ph.D.

As a thank you, DesignWise Art is promoting their client’s businesses from our Blog because we appreciate them and want to help their business grow. The goal is to promote who THEY are ~ their ideas and personality. So, we sent these questions to our clients and asked them to have some fun with their answers. This is what Eric Allenbaugh, Ph.D., from Allenbaugh Associates Inc., had to say:

How did you come up with your name?

After considering a number of options, I decided on a novel approach and named the company after myself! Hence, “Allenbaugh Associates, Inc.” became a reality. I concluded that if “Ford,” “J.P. Morgan Bank,” “Porsche,” “Honeywell” and others could do that, I could as well.

What is a fun story from the early days in business?

Building my leadership consulting business from scratch was a major challenge after leaving my former career in hospital administration. I returned to school to earn a doctorate and invested heavily in starting my practice. By the time I engaged with my first client, I was broke. That client, a President of a large organization, however, was poorly suited for his position, and I recommended that he resign. In essence, I “fired” my first client. Fortunately, his Senior Vice President became President, retained me to work with him, and my consulting practice officially launched — more than 30 years ago.

What local organization is your company a part of and why?

I rarely work with local clients, as my leadership consulting practice focuses on national and international clients. I am, however, actively involved in Rotary and participate in a number of their service programs.

What’s happening in your world? Any news to share?

I believe in giving more back than I receive, so Rotary and other projects provide an opportunity to be of service to others. In Rotary, we are putting together a “Service Above Self” program that honors teachers, students and community leaders who go above and beyond the call of duty in enhancing the quality of life in education and in our community. Our first awards banquet to honor finalists is scheduled for this January.

Do you have any other comments for Amy?

I have worked with Amy for a number of years and have found her artistic and creative talents to be a great resource in designing my website, stationery, business cards, and a number of publications. She has a unique ability to consistently create a professional look for all of my business materials. I frequently receive positive comments on the professional branding that she has created.

THANK YOU ERIC!
